EGDF Conference and AGM

3rd – 6th October 2024

Espinho is a former fishing village which is now a popular tourist destination, just 10 miles south of Porto, Portugal’s second city. The golden beaches of Espinho are accessible directly from our hotel.

The nearest international airport is Porto - serviced by most major airlines.

The conference will be hosted by our friends at the Guide Dog School in Portugal ABAADV, in collaboration the Portuguese Association for the Blind ACAPO.

We are working on a number of interesting topics for presentation and discussion at the conference, to include developments in latest technology, updates from the European Standard for assistance dogs, accessibility of air transport, etc., We will publish a draft programme shortly.

Itinerary overview

Thursday 3rd - 15:00 Registration - AGM at 16:00.  Evening at your leisure.

Friday 4th - All day conference - Welcome Dinner by the beach @ €37.50

Saturday 5th - All day conference - Gala Dinner at the hotel @ €65.00

Sunday 6th - EGDF board meeting - Optional excursion to Porto @ €65.00

 

We are delighted that we have managed to keep costs low, holding the price to 2022 levels if you secure your place before 30th June.

Conference fee

The conference fee is 250€ for EGDF members and supporters.  The non-member fee is 300€ This covers the full two days of conference, including lunches on the Friday and Saturday.

Early Bird Discount if booked and paid for before 30th June, 200€ for EGDF members and supporters, 250€ for non-members - saving 50€ per person on above prices! 

A special bed and breakfast rate has been secured for EGDF delegates booking for any nights between Tuesday 1st October and departing by Thursday 10th October.

At our AGM some of our trustees, as well as our honorary president, will be standing down in rotation or will have completed their statutory three terms.  We will be asking for nominations for trustees and president before the meeting.

During his tenure, our president, David Adams, has revitalized the organization, made it financially viable, and built bridges with our influential network of associated organisations.  This position is so critical to the future of EGDF that we want to find the best person in Europe to carry on this work.  

As with David Adams, the future president does not need to belong to a member organisation but should have a background suitable for directing and developing EGDF.  I welcome any proposals you send to us for consideration by the Board.
